Solar Eclipse Information

OVERVIEW

In 2024, a significant celestial event known as a solar eclipse is scheduled to take place on Monday, April 8th. This event will be especially notable in Ohio, where a 124-mile-wide area will have the privilege of witnessing a total solar eclipse, while regions outside this path will experience a partial eclipse. Total solar eclipses are extraordinary phenomena, occurring approximately once every 1.5 years somewhere on Earth. It's worth noting that, in the entire history of the United States, only 21 total solar eclipses have crossed the lower 48 states.

Interestingly, the last time Ohio had the chance to see a total solar eclipse was way back in 1806, making the 2024 eclipse a highly anticipated occurrence for residents of the state. For those eager to witness this celestial spectacle, the next opportunity in Ohio won't arise until the distant year of 2099.
