H1N1 vaccine is free if you get it from the Health District.
All H1N1 vaccination clinics are open to EVERYONE.
Second doses of the vaccine are now available to all kids age 9 and under. The second dose can be given 28 days after the first dose. The second dose is CRITICAL for all kids age 9 and under.
We have plenty of vaccine and more clinics will be scheduled each week.
People age 2 to 49 can receive the nasal spray vaccine UNLESS they are pregnant, have received another nasal vaccine in the last 30 days, have asthma, or have another chronic medical condition.
Local pediatricians, OBGYNs, and some pharmacies now have the H1N1 vaccine available for a fee.
The Health District DOES NOT HAVE AND HAS NEVER HAD any of the vaccine from GlaxoSmithKline that is being examined for safety.
The Health District DOES NOT HAVE AND HAS NEVER HAD any of the vaccine from Sanofi Pasteur that is being examined for inadequate strength.
A number of H1N1 nasal spray vaccines have been recalled because some doses have become weakened. Miami County had some of this vaccine at two clinics – on November 2nd and November 8th. This IS NOT a recall because of safety. Studies show that if you received a recalled nasal spray vaccine, you are FULLY protected against the H1N1 virus and DO NOT need to be revaccinated as a result of this recall. Some H1N1 shot vaccines for kids age 6 months to 35 months have been recalled because some doses have become weakened.
