Environmental Health provides the following services:

Air Pollution Control	Our goals: The primary purpose of the Regional Air Pollution Control Agency (RAPCA) is to protect the citizens of the Miami Valley from the adverse health and welfare impacts of air pollution, both indoor and outdoor. How we accomplish our goals: RAPCA is organized into two basic units: Abatement and Monitoring and Analysis. The Monitoring and Analysis Unit is responsible for indoor air, radon, vehicle emissions, asbestos, pollen and mold, air quality analysis, stack testing, emission inventory, source modeling, toxic air pollution and environmental assessments. Campgrounds	Our goals: Ensure the minimal risk of injury, disease, and vector exposure to persons utilizing camps. How we accomplish our goals: Periodic inspections, education of operators, enforcement of regulations in all areas of sanitation and safety.
Food Safety	Our goals: Prevention of foodborne illness and conditions that cause illness ~ including preparation, transportation, storage, and serving. Ensure a healthy environment in food service facilities. How we accomplish our goals: Routine system of periodic inspections, plan review, operator education, and regulation enforcement.
Household Sewage Treatment Systems	Our goals: Reduce the risk of infectious diseases transmitted by improperly or inadequately treated sewage. How we accomplish our goals: Permitting, site evaluation, system design, installation inspections,operational inspections, soil surveys (disposal and replacement areas), lot splits, and subdivision review.
Manufactured Home Parks	Program Update: The Manufactured Home Park Inspection Program has been transferred to the Ohio Manufactured Homes Commission. You can reach the Commission by phone at 614-734-6010 or by email at OMHC.Director@OMHC.state.oh.us. Their website is www.omhc.ohio.gov.
Bedbugs Mosquitoes Ticks and Rodents	Our goals: Reduce the risk of infection from vectorborne diseases (such as West Nile Virus, St. Louis encephalitis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Lyme disease). How we accomplish our goals: Provide information to the public regarding the prevention of vectorborne diseases. Monitoring of mosquito and tick population and environmental conditions that would harbor breeding of such vectors.
Operational Permit Program	Our goals: Improve public health by reducing the potential for the spread of disease brought on by waterborne pathogens. How we accomplish our goals: Inventory, monitoring, and management of HSTS through operational permits. Educate the public and provide financial assistance in the form of grants and loans for systems needing immediate attention.
Public Health Nuisance Abatement	Our goals: Protect community against public health nuisance conditions that could adversely affect the health and welfare of persons in the community. How we accomplish our goals: Promote public awareness of the importance of a clean, healthy environment. Abate threats to public health through ordinances, orders, court action, and demolition.
Public Swimming Pools and Spas	Our goals: Prevent spread of waterborne diseases, related illnesses, and accidents at public swimming pools and spas. How we accomplish our goals: Periodic inspections, education of operators, enforcement of regulations, monitoring of chemicals, water quality, and equipment.
Rabies Monitoring	Our goals: Protect the public from the spread of rabies and to promote awareness of the dangers of rabies. How we accomplish our goals: Monitoring of a nationwide immunization program, quarantine isolation and observation during bite case (both human and animal), and suspect case animal head submission to the Ohio Department of Health for clinical testing.
School Environments	Our goals: Ensure schools, their environments, and their playgrounds are constructed and maintained to protect health, safety, and the welfare of students, school employees, and the general public. How we accomplish our goals: Education of custodians, administrators, and teachers. Enforce quarantine and disinfection laws.
Tattoo and Body Piercing Establishments	Our goals: Reduce the risk of infection due to communicable diseases associated with tattoos and body piercing. How we accomplish our goals: Ensure establishments are licensed and maintained in a sanitary manner. Routine inspections and education.
Waste Haulers	Our goals: Ensure sanitary conditions in the collection, storage, and transportation of liquid and solid waste. How we accomplish our goals: Licensing and inspection of solid and sewage waste haulers.
Water Safety	Our goals: Ensure groundwater is protected from surface contamination through private water wells. Ensure the safe and sanitary development of private water supplies. How we accomplish our goals: Monitor the installation of private water wells. Provide water sampling and knowledgeable interpretation of the results of such tests. Monitor water quality.
